A Better Tomorrow
Written by Tan Nguyen

Wishing beyond any reasons,
Wishing beyond the stars above,
Wishing for a better tomorrow,
Unable to fully comprehend,
Asking, wishing such wishes.
Today, this very moment,
This point in time,
Must run it’s course,
For tomorrow to arrive,
Ignoring the problems,
Wishing upon a better tomorrow,
A tomorrow which may never come,
Putting all your hopes,
On an event which may never pass.
Today is today according to time,
Measured in segments by humans,
To understand the spaces beyond,
Wishing upon a better tomorrow,
Without living in this moment,
Tomorrow will always be tomorrow,
Slipping through reality into fantasy,
Stuck half way to no where.
Changes are needed for change,
Solutions are needed to solve,
Problems are needed to be dealt,
If everyone suddenly does nothing,
The atmosphere all around,
Would be a scene frozen in time,
Wishing for a better tomorrow,
Begins this very moment,
One step at a time,
Would take you one step further.
For some reason, this reminds me of Lewis Carroll’s ‘Jam tomorrow, jam yesterday but never jam today’

Pen name of Charles Dodgson, writer of the ‘Alice’ children’s books. The White Queen says it, I believe.
